We all remember back in the 2000s when our beloved pop star Britney Spears had a major meltdown. The paparazzi were right there to catch the “Oops I did it again” singer have a full-blown breakdown in the midst of a custody battle. Now, Britney’s infamous head-shaving incident is on everybody’s mind once again. Fans got a little worried when news broke out that she had reportedly checked herself into a mental health facility for anxiety related issues. But what pushed her over the edge?
Britney Has Always Been In The Spotlight
Britney told Israeli newspaper, Yediot Ahronot, “I think I had to give myself more breaks through my career and take responsibility for my mental health. There were many decisions that were made for me and that I didn’t make myself. My life was controlled by too many people and that doesn’t really let you be yourself. I was trying to please everyone around me because that who I am deep inside. There are moments where I look back and think: ‘What the hell was I thinking?’”
Staying Grounded
Over the last decade, the superstar has been keeping a low profile. She split her time between her kids and her Vegas residency and focused on rebuilding herself and her career. But no one could’ve predicted Britney would end up coming face to face with mental health issues once again.
Her Dad’s Medical Issues
Britney was doing so well after her infamous meltdown a couple of years ago. But last year, her dad’s colon ruptured and the pop star got very upset over his ongoing medical problems. She even put her Las Vegas residency on the backburner to deal with her dad’s health issues. Britney explained at the time, “A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time.”
But She Was Spiraling
Sources claimed that Britney was spiraling out of control. So, it came as no surprise that she checked herself into a mental health treatment facility. But to ease her fans’ concerns, Britney went on social media and wrote: “We all need to take time for a little ‘me time.'”
Kevin Federline Takes Over
Britney and her ex Kevin Federline were locked in a child support battle recently. The courts ordered her to pay more in support, plus $100,000 in attorney fees, which undoubtedly aggravated Britney’s mental stability. But now, Federline has “90% custody” of their kids, Sean and Jayden.
He’s Taking Her To Court Again
Federline is also reportedly heading to court to ask for more money from Britney to look after their kids while she takes a mental break. But his attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan told ET that Kevin fully supports his ex-wife’s decision to seek mental health treatment. Kaplan said, “Kevin commends Britney for recognizing that she needs to take a step back and that she is taking the reasonable steps to dealing with her situation in a responsible way.”
Her Boyfriend’s Sticking By Her
Despite being in a very dark place, Britney’s boyfriend, personal trainer Sam Asghari is being a total sweetheart and has reportedly been quite helpful in helping Britney get through this. He even checked in on her at the facility. So, despite some rumors that these two have split up, it seems they are still very much together. He even praised her on Instagram after word got out that Britney checked herself into a facility.
It Isn’t A Weakness
Sam Asghari went on social media and wrote, “It isn’t weakness, it’s a sign of absolute strength, people should only be inspired by this, at least I am.” Isn’t that sweet? Meanwhile, Britney continues to recover, and we’re sure she’ll bounce back and be better than ever. You’ll see.
